Thread Veins
Thread veins, or dermal flares as they are also known, are very fine dilated veins situated just beneath the surface of the skin on any area of the body and are a common cosmetic complaint, affecting men and women of all ages. They can be related to varicose veins and a high underlying venous pressure in some patients or simply the result of fine and translucent skin.
It is important to exclude any underlying cause as this will affect the treatment that we recommend, we will do this through a thorough examination and by undertaking a scan of the appropriate area. If there is a problem, we will treat this first to ensure you get the best possible results.
There are several forms of treatment available; Electrolysis, Laser, IPL and Microsclerotherapy and as always we will discuss with you the best options depending on the results of your scan.
Microsclerotherapy is the most common form of treatment and involves an injection using a very fine needle with some patients seeing an instant result, whilst in others it can take up to three months for the veins to clear. We typically inject at two to three week intervals depending on how extensive the flares are and whichever option you choose treatment will continue until you are completely satisfied with the results.
